Bald Head Island

We just got back from the greatest vacation.  Bald Head Island, North Carolina.  Part of the barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina, Bald Head dates back to Revolutionary War times in terms of permanent residents.  Currently it is accessible by ferry boat only and no cars are allowed-golf carts only.  Being an island offers a unique refuge but without any cars it had an amazing tranquility.   You never knew what time it was nor did you care.  There are only about 200 year round residents.  Wildlife was everywhere alligators, fox, deer and racoons could be seen all around - in addition it is a nesting ground for loggerhead sea turtles.
